Heritage Center & Genealogical Research

The Historic Carson House is expanding its mission of preservation and education with the opening of its new Heritage Center and Genealogical Research facility. This addition offers visitors a deeper way to experience the history of the Carson family, Marion, and western North Carolina. The Heritage Center provides engaging exhibits, artifacts, and stories that bring the Revolutionary and early American eras to life, while also highlighting the everyday lives of the people who lived and worked on the property.

For those tracing family roots, the Genealogical Research center is an invaluable resource. With collections of documents, records, and knowledgeable volunteers, it offers a welcoming space for guests to explore ancestral connections and discover their place in the region’s history. Together, these new spaces enhance the Carson House’s role as both a museum and a community hub—preserving the past while making it more accessible to all.
